Of all the traffic improvements requested, there is no mention of 611 and Bristol Roads in the 12 year "wish list" submitted to Penndot. Don't the Sups. live in this area?
Seems the Sups. will take no for an answer time and again from Penndot. Sups. will say there are two historical buildings and the roadbeds don't align. The roadbeds don't align in many other intersections, Almshouse and 611 comes to mind right away. The fact is, Marabella's Restaurant is going to be sold and another use will follow it. Let's not kid ourselves, it will not be a restaurant use. No restaurant will pay what that lot is worth in that location to follow 2 failed restaurants. Something must be done before it gets any worse.
The time to fix 611 and Bristol is now. Let's have our state representative help us. Let's make Penndot do their job, instead of resorting to knee-jerk road building as a solution, especially road building to help out a supervisor (Bullock of course) who miscalculated on how much land his development could aquire. Bristol/611 problems are a symptom of regional, multi-township traffic problems. It is not Warrington's to fix for Warwick, Buckingham, Northampton and townships beyond. It is a Penndot problem and must be addressed by Penndot.
Look ahead just a few years and see the impact of the new high school, the bypass and the planned development of Turk/Bristol and, if the road to nowhere is built, the development of the old airport (across from W.W.A.A.) that will surely follow. Make no mistake, the road to nowhere is a developer bailout, (or it would not have been concieved by Anderson/Bullock) not a long term solution to 611/Bristol problems.
We must address the intersection's problems before it becomes unbearable. Access to 611 and the Turnpike are major quality of life concerns for our bedroom community.
We must get through to our supervisor's deaf ears how much we deserve to have our concerns heard. After all, we are the ones who already live here. Occupants of future neighborhoods and developers don't pay the taxes here. Bullock will be gone in Jan., possibly Anderson will too. Don't let them get away with any more before they pull stakes and skip town with their winnings. Stand up for Warrington's future. Be heard!
