Got Feelings About Act 72?

The school district's website is the place to let your feelings be known. www.cbsd.org. I lived for a time in New Jersey, where we had ballot referendum on school taxes. It does provide a measure of control. Also, let the school district know that they should weigh in more forcefully on Warrington zoning changes as is their role of the re-zoning hearing process under legislation passed in 2001. I have spoken to Chuck Baker who said "yeah, I wish they'd stop those zoning changes in Warrington and give us a break". But when the board's input arrived, they had nothing to say. Why? My theory is they see homes as ratables, dripping with tax revenue that is simply the only way to cover the spending already over the dam.

We have had zoning changes granted where we (school parents), made our supervisors and "no planning commission" aware, and the school district was aware that there was no place for the future Warrington kids on the drawing board to go to school under the present capacity. Perhaps the township will listen to the school district, if they would TELL THE TRUTH TO THE TOWNSHIP about school capacities, unless of course, they are mutually interested in tax and spend empire building.

Act 72 defies true understanding, but it can give some control back to citizens. How much money it can give back cannot be accurately predicted. I strive each day toward a better understanding of what it could mean as a taxpayer and school parent. I will continue to try and understand it better as we go along. If someone can shed any more light on it for me, please feel free.
