REDSTONE WOODS RESIDENTS SEEING RED

Oct. 25, 2005, Warrington - At last nights Supervisors Meeting a large group of Redstone Woods residents led by Andrew Katz, made another emphatic plea for the township to act on their behalf to get their builder C & M Home Builders to make good on construction promises, correct faulty construction and finally finish up their development. The problems ranged from not waterproofing basement wall exteriors, to the omission of attic insulation and included charges of the contractor removing from the site all the topsoil from preliminary clearing. Topsoil that is now in place is riddled with large chunks of concrete, asphalt and minor boulders and residents are spending thousands of their own dollars to remedy the situation. In addition, trees that had been promised to protect and enhance the environment have yet to be planted.

The construction nightmare is not limited to the homes and properties of the residents, but includes areas to be turned over to the township at dedication. We are talking about grassland, trees, paving, sidewalks and curbing. Residents were also upset that Verizon had not cleaned up markings on the streets and sidewalks that were placed to aid them in installation of fiber optic cable.

The above situation has been a known deficiency for many months; to date no corrective action has been taken. To calm the homeowners the Board promised to have come up with a plan in the next week that would include township inspectors re-inspecting every home in the development. However, this is another case of negligence on the part of the Board of Supervisors. With more than eighty homes needing re-inspection what will it cost? A preliminary estimate is no less than $10,000 Is the original contracted inspection firm going to be used again after doing such an incompetent job the first time? Who will be paying for this fiasco, a bonding company, the inspection firm, the general contractor or the swindled citizens of Warrington?

Isn’t it about time we had competent management in place in Warrington. I am talking about the township engineers, manager and the leadership that must come from the Board of Supervisors. Luckily voters will get chance on November 8th to elect two competent people to Board. In case you have forgotten the names, since many of their signs were selectively removed from prominent areas of the township, LAMOND & PLOTNICK.
