From YourSITE.com Daily News The Intelligencer’s recent interest in Warrington Township’s budget debate leaves me asking the question, where was the paper during the budget debate last year? Not one article was printed on the 2005 budget. For those residents who think the newly elected board wants to impress us by raising our taxes as their first act, think again. The 2005 budget passed by Supervisors’ Fein, Paul and Kiefer was a complete sham. The revenue column included a fire sale of township property and a $750,000 pile of dirt needed to balance the budget. Supervisors’ McKay and Butterworth asked Chairman Paul and Township Manager Bonargo for records and appraisals, but nothing was provided and no records exist. Why was the dirt moved in the first place? The ordinance was passed to keep top soil in the newly built developments, not to create a top soil business for Warrington. Supervisor Kiefer’s comments critical of the new board raising taxes leaves me with a proposition for her to ponder. Let the township auction the dirt, all money over $750,000, Supervisors’ Kiefer, Fein and Paul can keep, any thing less is covered by the same trio.
